Job Overview: EV Design Engineer
As an EV Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in the development and design of electric vehicles, ensuring optimal performance, safety, efficiency, and user experience. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams including electrical, mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineers to bring next-generation electric mobility solutions to life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop vehicle components (chassis, body, suspension, interiors) for electric vehicles using CAD tools (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, Siemens NX).
- Collaborate with powertrain, battery, and electronics teams to integrate mechanical and electrical systems effectively.
- Perform structural analysis, material selection, and design optimization for weight reduction and safety.
- Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
- Support prototype development, functional testing, and validation of components and systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, homologation requirements, and environmental regulations.
- Participate in design reviews, DFMEA, and root cause analysis for design-related issues.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in vehicle or component design (EV experience preferred).
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software and knowledge of GD&T, CAE tools.
- Understanding of EV architecture, packaging, and mechanical-electrical integration.
- Familiarity with vehicle safety regulations and design validation processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a passion for sustainable mobility.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with light-weight materials (aluminum, composites).
- Exposure to thermal management design or NVH optimization.
- Knowledge of ISO standards, AIS regulations, or homologation procedures in India.
