Job Type: Full Time
Job Location: Ahmedabad Hyderabad Kolkata Pune
Job Overview: Charging Station Design Engineer
As a Charging Station Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design and development of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and scalability. This includes planning and engineering both AC and DC charging stations—from site layout and power requirements to hardware integration and compliance with industry standards.
In this role, you’ll work closely with cross-functional teams including electrical, civil, and software engineers, as well as external contractors and utility providers. Your expertise will be crucial in shaping the infrastructure backbone that supports the EV ecosystem, from urban fast-charging networks to commercial fleet depots and highway corridors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design the electrical and physical layout of EV charging stations, including selection of components such as chargers, transformers, panels, cables, and protection systems.
- Perform load calculations, power flow analysis, and grid impact assessments.
- Ensure compliance with local electrical codes, safety standards (IEC, BIS), and EV charging protocols (e.g., CCS2, CHAdeMO, Type-2, Bharat AC/DC).
- Coordinate with civil and utility teams for site feasibility, permitting, and construction requirements.
- Collaborate with software and IoT teams to integrate smart features (OCPP, remote monitoring, billing, etc.).
- Support installation, commissioning, and testing of charging stations at various locations.
- Assist in preparing technical documentation, design drawings, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in electrical design, preferably in EV charging infrastructure or power distribution systems.
- Strong knowledge of power electronics, protection systems, and grid connectivity.
- Proficiency in CAD and electrical design tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, Dialux).
- Familiarity with communication standards (OCPP, RS-485, Modbus) and energy metering.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with fast-charging systems (DCFC), solar-integrated charging, or battery swapping stations.
- Understanding of EVSE standards such as IEC 61851, 62196, or IS:17017.
- Exposure to SCADA, PLCs, or IoT-based energy management platforms.
- Field experience in installation or commissioning of high-voltage electrical equipment.
